It’s looking like an awesome night.
Bread and Circus hosts AfterpartY, who i have mentioned before and they are guaranteed to get you moving.
The Central looks packed with pure goodness – The Mountains and The Trees is playing (Michael’s note- if you miss the Mountains and the Trees are you are missing an amazing man), as are *drum roll* The Passengers, whom we at the blog all love and you should too (also they’ll be playing new material from their EP releasing later this month)
The MusicBC showcase at Courthouse will feature the likes of Dan Mangan and We Are The City, and if you follow the blog to any extent, you’ll know the amount of awesomeness this presents.
Renowned reggae/ska band Bedouin Soundclash are preforming at the Mod Club Theatre – however i hear tickets are selling fast, so you’d best get a move on that.
El Mocambo is having guests from Quebec over in the form of PARLOVR and the awesome Winter Gloves and Handsome Furs – a lineup which I give a reosunding OUI to.
Winter Gloves are also playing at Lee’s Palace the same night, along with The Russian Futurists, The Acorn, Plants and Animals, Think About Life and The Uglysuit, which promises to be a great show.
Bravestation‘s badass grooves will be heard from Rancho Relaxo, where one can also find Gypsophilia, Balthazar, Krupke, Boats, Trevor James & The Perfect Gentlemen and Owel Five & Corboe, making it a very very good destination.
I will also recommend the Spotlight on India – Urban Showcase at Revival if you’re in the mood for some funky tunes from foreign lands – it features the likes of Prita Chhabra, The Tabla Guy, Shobha, JT & MC JD Roadshow, The Bilz & Kashif and En Karma.
CATL, a talented blues group which i’ve had my eye on, are playing at Silver Dollar’s Comfort Zone along with Isla Craig and the Continental Drift, Huron, Ian Blurton’s Happy Endings, Dexateens and The Lawn – strongly recommended.
The Great Hall will also be a great place to check out, for the great variety it offers – a whopping 14 artists are taking the stage there Friday night.
The show i will probably regret missing the most is the CHARTattack showcase at Horseshoe Tavern – with Bend Sinister, The Dudes, Jets Overhead, Melissa Auf Der Maur, Hot Hot Heat, Paper Lions and Gloryhound. Tickets were sold out by the time i found out about it, but if you find a way to get in, please let me know.
Friday of the Canadian Music Week looks amazing, but can Saturday beat it?! stay tuned to Grayowl Point to find out! and start planning where you’re going to Friday night – this is one night you do not want to miss out on.
